‘Couldn’t write this stuff,’ ‘Prices need to drop’ – Plenty of supporters react as Bolton suspend ticket sales

Troubled Bolton Wanderers appear to be backtracking after yesterday’s announcement of ticket prices for their opening home League One fixture against Coventry caused a supporter backlash.

The club set Adult ticket prices at Β£24 with Under-23s, and Over-65s charged Β£18 and Under-18s Β£12 and many supporters were astonished and angry at the proposed pricing structure which they felt was an attempt by the club to exploit supporters who have stayed loyal through all the club recent troubles.

They also criticised the club for not allowing supporters to pay on the day of the game with many expressing the opinion the club had missed a trick and scored a massive public relations own goal by not setting prices at a level which could potentially sell-out the ground.

The club has this morning issued a new statement suspending ticket sales but insisting the game will go ahead. Unsurprisingly this has caused a further reaction by supporters on social media. Some fans are speculating it is a sign the proposed takeover by Football Venture is complete while others are suggesting the club is responding to the horrendous feedback it received yesterday.

Administrators are currently running the Trotters until a deal to establish new owners is complete and judging by the reaction to the latest statement this can not come soon enough for long-suffering Bolton fans.
