Former owner and chairman of Crystal Palace Simon Jordan has offered to help troubled League One club Bury FC.
Speaking on Talksport during his role as a pundit on the Jim White show, Jordan offered to help the controversial owner of the Shakers Steve Dale deal with the EFL who he called ‘clowns’ and ‘duplicitous.’ While he ruled out putting money in the club, Jordan said he felt he could concentrate minds and help resolve a situation that has seen the first two matches of Bury’s season suspended.
Jordan made his offer following an interview with Dale on the show which saw him flounder over some of the questions put to him by White and comments by the knowledgable Jordan. Dale again attacked the EFL’s handling of the situation which has led to an impasse. The EFL is currently asking for more detailed financial information from the club which Dale suggests is more than was initially requested. The club is under a transfer embargo and been deducted twelve points under the league’s insolvency rules. The stalemate is now putting the Shakers first-round Carabao Cup tie at Sheffield Wednesday on 13 August in doubt.
Dale argues the Shakers have been treated differently to their Lancashire neighbours and League One rivals Bolton who were allowed to sign players and complete their fixture with Wycombe at the weekend despite the proposed takeover by Football Ventures still ongoing.
White announced soon after Jordan’s on-air comments that Dale had texted the show and said he would contact Jordan this afternoon.
Our View
Jordan has many contacts in the game and has been there, done that, and got the t-shirt in terms of football ownership.
It is a smart move that could expose Dale’s side of the story for the lies many Bury fans feel it is, or it could reveal the reasons for the EFL’s attitude to the club which does seem to differ from that shown to Bolton.
For Bury fans, I’m sure they would welcome anything that might resolve the situation which is putting the future of their beloved club in do

Bolton are treated different to bury-no doubt. they are loaned £2000000by the pfa and still not sold. why ? the efl are asking for 2 years finance stability for bury but not the same for Bolton. double standards here.. EFL are a shambles. Jevons should go. she is a disgrace to management.
They are in administration bury are not. Gordon Taylor has already said they have loaded bury a considerable amount of money but needed more information
