Rangers academy prospect Andrew Dallas could be set to sign for League Two Cambridge United as reported by the Scottish Sun.
The striker impressed U’s boss Colin Calderwood in a friendly against Premier League Leicester City on Tuesday night, and he told the Sun he would like to get a deal done for the twenty-year-old. Dallas first caught Calderwood’s eye when he scored for Rangers against Cambridge in a recent development match.
Dallas is yet to make an appearance for Rangers but has enjoyed loan spells at Stenhousemuir and Morton in the SPFL. He’s made twenty-one senior appearances so far, finding the net three times.
First team football looks increasing out of reach for the youngster at Rangers but a move to Cambridge and regular football could aid his development and help him establish himself at the Glasgow giants.
Speaking to the Herald recently, Dallas admitted he was open to another loan move to increase his chances at Ibrox. ‘I feel like the loan option is a good one for younger players like myself because the gap between reserve and first-team football is massive,’ he said.

Cambridge are desperately short of forward options and signing a young, hungry striker on-loan would appear their only choice with limited funds.
Dallas has something to prove and could be a good signing for the U’s.
Calderwood will be hoping he’s unearthed a gem and with fans still reeling from the departure of Jevani Brown, the U’s boss will need Dallas to make his mark otherwise it could be another long season at the Abbey.
