Ipswich Town’s preparations for the new season took a turn for the worst last night as they drew 1-1 with National League side Notts County.
Nathan Tyson gave the Magpies a first half lead before Ipswich youngster Tristan Nydam was stretchered off after the break. Kayden Jackson earned them a draw, but it’s far from ideal with ten days to go until the League One season starts.
It was a youthful-looking Tractor Boys side and it is just a pre-season friendly, but the result will doubtless worry some of their supporters. They’re not used to third-tier football and are hoping to bounce straight back, but in Notts County they faced a side in non-league for the first time in their history.
Paul Lambert confirmed the injury to Nydam appears to be a dislocated ankle, telling their Twitter feed;Â “It looks like he’s dislocated his ankle but other than that we don’t know too much. It wasn’t nice viewing.”
The evening could have ended on a positive note had sub James Norwood’s effort not been ruled out for offside late on, but it was the goal from Jackson which had the fans talking.
The former Accrington man was widely regarded as a flop last season for his low goals return, prompting fans to leave some positive comments on Twitter after his leveller.
Well that’s something
