‘Last one out turn out the lights’ – Latest Bolton Wanderers development has these fans wondering what’s next

Another day, another embarrassing and humiliating chapter in Bolton Wanderers history emerges.

The club have been forced to cancel their friendly with Preston North End this week amidst raging uncertainty off the field. They’re in the grasp of a takeover, or at least that’s what fans are being told. However, there’s been no update, no firm date as to when something might happen, nor promises about the future.

Instead, the long-suffering fans are being fed half-truths, false hope and last-minute cancellations of matches. It’s not just a dire situation, it’s tragic with the supporters the ones who suffer.

Players haven’t been paid, they’ve already called off one pre-season friendly against Chester and this coming after having a league match cancelled at the end of last season. Those players, without wages in 20 weeks, released a press statement last week condemning the time it’s taking for the administrators to conclude the deal.

Words can’t adequately cover how supporters must be feeling, but one would imagine a range of anger, exasperation and utter hopelessness. How do fathers tell passionate kids their team might not exist anymore? How do players tell their families they don’t know when they’ll be paid?

How can this situation have been allowed to happen?

That’s a question we’d imagine the fans below would love answered.

  1. An appallingly run club which has been on the brink of collapsing for years. They have never had any ambition to compete in the big time; they had the opportunity but blew it under Gartside when Allardyce was manager-hence the departure of the manger. They never recovered and the decline rapidly gained pace. We have one of the best academies in the country but few of them have ever been offered an opportunity to gain first team experience.Parkinson is the major culprit, he preferred to pursue loans and free transfers , all of them beyond their sell buy dates. Why therefore do we have an academy?!! IF the club survives we MUST make david Lee the manager, after all he knows all the idiosyncrasies of this club and have Allardyce as director of football if that position is required. The most important factor is that lots of money needs to be made available so that we never are in this position again.I could say more, but frankly don’t have the time.
