‘A striker who doesn’t score sounds promising’ – These underwhelmed Carlisle fans react to latest trialist update

Former Derby County, Coventry City and Blackpool striker Kwame Thomas has joined Carlisle United on trial.

The twenty-three-year-old former England Under-20 international is a free agent following his release by National League outfit Solihull Moors.

He made seventeen appearances for the Moors last season in which he failed to find the net, but he did score four times in twenty-nine outings in 2017/18. He spent the final weeks of last term on loan at Kidderminster Harriers, notching up five appearances without a goal in National League North.

Arguably his best spell in the EFL came at Coventry City where he scored three goals in eleven League One outings in 2016/17 before drifting into the National League. He has previously failed to score at Derby and during loan spells at Blackpool and Notts County.

Carlisle fans soon took to social media to react to the news, and it is fair to say plenty of them were underwhelmed with the player and particularly his goal record.

The optimists point out that he must have talent having played for his country and hoped maybe Carlisle could bring the best out of him.

Here is how the news was greeted on Twitter by these fans of the Cumbrians.
