Birmingham City have joined the race to sign Wolves forward Bright Enobakhare in a blow to Coventry City’s hopes of signing the forward as reported by the Coventry Telegraph.
According to the report, the Sky Blues have been trying to sign the playmaker all summer and have a bid on the table for £600,000, but interest from the Blues could put paid to their hopes of landing the twenty-one-year-old.
Coventry have been trying to sign Enobakhare since he enjoyed a successful loan spell with the club in 2018/19. He scored six goals in eighteen league appearances during the second half of last season, helping the Sky Blues to the brink of the League One play-offs.
Wolves recently exercised an option to extend Enobakhare’s contract by a year, and recent reports suggested they may use him in their upcoming Europa League campaign before deciding on his future with a loan to a championship club their preference if he does not manage to break into Nuno Espirito Santo’s first-team setup.
The offer of Championship football with Birmingham is likely to be an eye-catching one and may end Coventry’s hope of landing a player who became a firm fans favourite last campaign and their top summer transfer target.
Our View
An excellent player who probably warrants a shot at the Championship.
It looks like Wolves can’t make up their mind on the player and a loan for a year will give them further time to asses his worth.
It will disappoint Sky Blues fans, but rumours of a loan deal with the Blues seem to be growing by the minute.
I must admit I know nothing about this striker but he sounds quite decent. After selling Che we are down to 2 strikers. Let’s hope he can cut it at Championship level. Whatever happens he looks destined to play at St Andrews next year.
