Peterborough United are in talks to land highly-rated Rochdale midfielder Callum Camps as reported by Football Insider.
Reporter Pete O’Rourke claims a source at London Road has told him Posh have opened negotiations to land Camps and are hopeful of completing the deal before the transfer window shuts.
The midfielder is well thought of in the EFL after coming through the ranks at Rochdale where he has made over two hundred first-team appearances.
The twenty-three-year-old was a virtual ever-present for Rochdale in 2018/19, making forty-four outings and scoring three times. He was influential in the late run of form under new manager Brian Barry-Murphy that helped preserve the club’s League One status.
The former Northern Ireland international has one year left on his current deal at Spotland, and the report claims Posh boss Darren Ferguson is keen to add Camps to his squad as he looks to mount a serious challenge for League One promotion next season.
Camps would be a terrific signing for Peterborough.
Many Rochdale fans believe he is the best central midfield player in League One and they would be extremely disappointed to see him leave.
However, money talks and Posh have been big movers in the market this summer and if the price is right Camps may well be on his way.
