Darren Moore set to make Arsenal youngster his first Rovers signing

Darren Moore is set to make Arsenal youngster Ben Sheaf is first signing for Doncaster Rovers as reported by Football Insider.

The report claims a source at the North London giants has told them terms for a six-month loan deal had been agreed between the clubs for the twenty-one-year-old midfielder.

According to the report, talks have been ongoing since last month for the versatile Arsenal Academy product who can also play in defence.

Arsenal have sanctioned the temporary move as Sheaf is some way off staking a claim for a first-team place.

The England youth international has made only two senior appearances for the Gunners, spending much of his recent time at the Emirates in the under-23’s. He did enjoy a loan spell at Stevenage in 2017/18, making ten League Two appearances for the Hertfordshire outfit and the report suggests he is looking to taste EFL action once again to help with his development.

Football Insider reports that Moore regards Sheaf’s pedigree and versatility as real assets and hopes he can help them go better than their sixth-place finish in 2018/19.

One of those signings that could be a very smart move and not surprising since Rovers reputation for astute loan captures.

Sheaf has talent and pedigree, but his career is going nowhere at Arsenal, and at twenty-one, he needs to play.

Doncaster will give him a platform to showcase his talents, and with the right attitude, the move could kick start his career and help Doncaster push for promotion back to the Championship.
