Coventry City have finally responded to the controversy surrounded Jak Hickman, the youth team player who made an unsavoury video whilst on a summer break recently.
Hickman was caught on camera boasting about his wealth, claiming he was leaving Coventry and rubbing a white powder into his gums around a swimming pool. He was heard to say ‘f*** Cov’ during the short clip.
Little has been said by the club for around a fortnight, but they have today released a statement, which read:
“Coventry City can confirm it has concluded its investigation, following the video on social media of Under 23s player Jak Hickman.
Hickman has been subject to a formal Club disciplinary procedure.
Hickman has been given a fine of 2 weeks wages by Coventry City for bringing the Club into disrepute – this is the maximum permissible fine the Club is able to give according to Football Association rules for a player on a standard FA contract for a first offence.
The Club also reported the matter to the FA, and they advised us that they would not be taking any action against Hickman. Hickman has been immediately placed on the transfer list.”
It looks like a very bleak future for a player who claimed to have ‘heavy pockets’ after spitting drink on the floor in the clip. After a modest playing career which has seen him on loan with Hereford United, Ashton United and Mickleover Sports, it seems he’s blown his chances of ever representing Coventry City.
If he ever had a chance in the first place.
These Coventry fans were quick to respond to the statement.
Lighter pockets soon then, have fun at Nuneaton #pusb
