Vultures circle as yet another Bury player is linked with a move

Will Aimson, Chris Stokes and Nicky Maynard; they were the players that left Bury yesterday.

On top of that Danny Mayor and Nicky Adams have gone without a hope of anyone else coming in at the moment. It’s a dire situation started off with the loss of Ryan Lowe to Plymouth.

Lowe has been keen on a number of his former players and reports surfacing this morning suggest that he’s going to continue to pick over the carcass of his former employers with a move for Dom Telford.

Telford is a striker who bagged 14 goals in 48 matches last season. His record was overshadowed by that of Maynard and the influential Danny Mayor, but he’s a real talent who, at just 22-years-old, has lots of scope to develop.

The Pilgrims are being linked with a £50,000 bid for the striker, something Lowe wouldn’t be drawn on too much when quizzed.

“I don’t want to talk too much about other club’s players, but what I will say is that we have got a couple of bids in for a couple of players,” he said.

“I won’t name any players because they are obviously contracted to other clubs, but Dom is a fantastic player and we know what Dom is about, but we have got other offers out for players also.”

Telford began his career with Blackpool before a move to Stoke which didn’t work out. He’s had tome on loan at Bristol Rovers, but ended up at Bury where he scored seven in seven during their EFL Trophy run.

Our View

Telford isn’t one of the big names to come out of Bury last season, but he shouldn’t be overlooked. He struggled to impose himself on the first team, but much of his football came from the bench.

His EFL Trophy record gives suitors food for thought and perhaps this is his season to shine.
