Kenny Jackett has revealed that defender Nathan Thompson will not be returning to Fratton Park next season as reported by Andrew Moon of the BBC.
Thompson first made the move to Portsmouth from Swindon Town back in the summer of 2017 and made 79 times appearances. 31 of those came last season as Pompey looked likely to achieve promotion, only to fall away as the season wore on.
News that Thompson won’t be returning hasn’t prompted a wave of anger, rather a general malaise. It seems these supporters don’t think he was quite as integral to their success as it might have seemed.
Please note we made amendments to this article after a keyboard warrior called the player arrogant, on social media, but then didn’t like it being highlighted. Happy to clear that up.
Not a massive miss. Almost faultless defensively but didn't give much on the ball or going forward. Which we need against defensive minded teams

He was a really nice guy when we met him, no arrogance about him. He happily spent a lot of the evening with my young, enthusiastic grandson. pic.twitter.com/GqCPNWrrxq

😂 love it. Who’s going to step up now and perform the flop for the team?
