Speculation over the future of Plymouth Argyle defender Ryan Edwards has been given a further twist with news that Tranmere Rovers are ‘lurking’ in the race to land the twenty-five-year-old defender.
Edwards refusal to sign a new deal at Home Park reportedly sparked the interest of a host of club’s with Blackpool and Bristol Rovers said to be the most interested, but a recent tweet by respected Sun journalist Alan Nixon has revealed Tranmere Rovers are also in the frame.

When asked a question on Edwards future, Nixon confirmed Blackpool are still in the driving seat but that Tranmere are also interested.
Edwards, who successfully overcame testicular cancer in 2018 and won huge admiration for the way he handled the situation, will be a free agent this summer after announcing he would be leaving Home Park in the wake of the Pilgrims League One relegation earlier this month.
Despite missing the second half of the 2017/18 season due to his cancer diagnosis and surgery, Edwards still played sixty-nine times for Argyle after signing from Morecambe in 2017.
The Liverpool born central defender was a standout performer last season in a disappointing campaign for the Pilgrims which saw them relegated to League Two on the final day of the season.
He is a commanding presence defensively and can also chip in with goals, netting five times for Argyle in thirty-eight appearances for the Devon outfit in 2018/19.
Our View
Edwards would be a great signing for Tranmere as they look to establish themselves in League One next season.
He is a fantastic League One defender and would add real quality to Micky Mellon’s squad.
It would be a real coup to persuade him to go to Prenton Park, but the interest from Blackpool has been ongoing, and my feeling is Edwards will be playing in tangerine next season.

‘Respected Scum Journalist’
Don’t make me laugh, the scum have never been and never will be respected nor their journalistic values.
Standout performer? Did his agent tell you that? Not from where I was sitting. He was a key figure in one of the worst defences int eh league.
I don’t believe the word ‘respected’ used to describe a Sun journalist will do you any favours on Merseyside. Maybe you need to do a bit more research, the Sun is not really available in the area.
