League One clubs are showing an interest in twenty-three-year-old Walsall midfielder Liam Kinsella as reported by the Express & Star.
The Republic of Ireland youth international is out of contract and been offered a new deal to stay at the Banks’s Stadium, but with League One club’s circling, the report claims more lucrative financial offers may emerge to tempt the player away from the Saddlers.
Kinsella was one of the few bright spots in a disappointing campaign for Walsall which saw them relegated to League Two. He made thirty-nine appearances and turned in several eye-catching displays, form that saw him named Walsall’s Young Player of the Season.
Popular amongst the supporters, Kinsella has been with the Saddlers since he was eight and the report suggests he is still expected to stay. However, if he does decide to leave Walsall would be entitled to compensation because of his age.
Our View
Following the signing of Stuart Sinclair, Walsall do have several options in midfield which could see them cash in on Kinsella.
The report is ambiguous, but it does cast a doubt over his future with Kinsella yet to sign his new deal.
Walsall fans will be sad to see him go but will realise it is a consequence of last season poor campaign that their better players will attract interest from higher up the football food chain.
