Macclesfield Town have made their first signing of the summer with former Swindon Town midfielder Jak McCourt joining on a one year deal.
The former Leicester City youth player made twenty-seven League Two appearances for the Robins in 2018/19 finding the net on one occasion.
The twenty-three-year-old joins Sol Campbell’s squad on a free transfer after being released by the Wiltshire club at the end of the season.
McCourt’s previous clubs include Northampton, Barnsley and Chesterfield and he has made just over one hundred EFL appearances scoring seven goals.
The tough-tackling no-nonsense midfielder is noted for his commitment and will to win but also possesses technical ability. The club’s official website described him as ‘tenacious’ when announcing the signing.
Its been a quiet summer so far at Moss Rose but the Macclesfield faithful will be hoping this signing is the signal for more to come. Fans soon took to social media and were generally delighted with their new player. Some Swindon fans also responded to news of the signing with useful reports on the player.
Here is a selection of their responses on Twitter.
