Salford City have continued their preparations for their first season as a Football League club by signing Eastleigh wide man Joey Jones on a two-year deal, as reported by the club.
The Ammies are looking to push on up the division next season and have rarely been backward in coming forward with big money deals. However, bringing Jones into the side is a modest transfer compared to some moves they’ve been linked with.
Jones has previously been with Woking in the National League, but was also with Yeovil as they ascended to the Championship, without playing a game for the Glovers. He spent portions of his youth career with both Arsenal and Leicester City.
The 25-year-old certainly impressed as Eastleigh made the play-offs in the National league and he looks ready to make a return to the EFL.
Salford supporters are delighted with the capture, but are bracing themselves for the inevitable backlash that accompanies anything they do at the moment.

Started his career at Arsenal and also played for Leicester, Yeovil and Woking. I think, based on the performance I saw of him against us at home and considering his playing history, he is more than capable of playing in league 2. Reading the article avoids asking silly questions

Whilst the Real EFL understands some of the negativity towards Salford, what would football fans prefer? An owner with money spending what he can afford, or an owner like Steve Dale, Roland Duchatelet or SISU? Whilst the method by which Salford have climbed is hardly a fairytale, they still need to win football matches and as Forest Green have proven, money doesn’t buy you success.
