Blackpool are interested in Tranmere Rovers winger Ben Tollitt according to roversrearguard.com.
The twenty-four-year-old is available after being released by Rovers last week, and the report suggests Blackpool are one of several interested parties which include League Two newcomers Salford City.
The winger enjoyed a successful loan spell at National league Wrexham in the second half of the season, and while the Welsh club harboured hopes of making the deal permanent, the interest of EFL clubs now makes that unlikely.
Tollitt made thirteen appearances for Wrexham and found superb form in Wales, scoring four goals as the Red Dragons missed out on promotion to the EFL in the National League playoffs. He joined Tranmere from Portsmouth in 2016 but struggled to establish himself at Prenton Park, making just thirty-eight appearances in his three years on Birkenhead.
Our View
Tollitt’s rediscovery of his form and confidence at Wrexham confirmed his early career promise and may well have secured him EFL football next season.
However, League One is a big step up from the National League, and it will be a gamble for Blackpool if he goes there.
He is talented but needs to get his head down and work hard if the move is to be a success.
