‘Very strange decision’ – These Peterborough fans react to latest club announcement

Peterborough United have released their retained list today, as well as the players they’re willing to listen to offers for.

Darren Lyon, Ryan Tafazolli, Morgan Penfold and Lewis Freestone have left the football club following the expiry of their contracts, with Tafazolli the ones stand out name. He was a first team regular this season, but will now be targeting a Championship move.

Two other players who had one-year options, namely goalkeeper Conor O’Malley and winger Marcus Maddison, have had the extensions triggered and will spend another year at London Road, or will at least cost someone a big fee as is likely to be the case with Maddison.

Interestingly, it is the transfer list that has generated the most interest, with several players being made available for a move. Aaron Chapman, Callum Cooke, Mark O’Hara, winger Isaac Buckley-Ricketts and striker Matt Stevens have all been told they’re free to leave the club.

O’Hara has been on loan at Lincoln City, whilst Stevens is a player who has caught the attention of many Posh fans on social media.

It is his inclusion on the list that has got them up in arms, as you can read below.
