Coventry City could be set to lose defender Jordan Willis to Championship new boys Luton Town, according to HITC.
Centre back Willis, who can operate at full back too, has been impressive for the Sky Blues this term. He’s come through the ranks at the Ricoh Arena, but has yet to agree a new deal with Mark Robins’ side and is now likely to leave on a free transfer.
Despite having Sonny Bradley and Matty Pearson, the Hatters new boss Graeme Jones is thought to be coveting Willis, who made 38 appearances in the league for Coventry this season.
In total he’s started 166 league matches, appearing 208 times in all competitions.
Jones takes over at Luton today following Mick Harford’s final match at the weekend, which saw them lift the League One title. it’s the first time they’ve graced the second tier in 15 years.
Coventry just missed out on the top six, but look in good shape for a play-off assault next season.
Our View
Willis is an exciting young player, but at 24-years-old has to consider his next move with Coventry not going up.
He’ll have a plethora of options, but Luton seems to be a good fit for him given their ambition, which is sure to match his own.
