Oldham Athletic’s troubles continued today as Pete Wild, their current Head Coach, left Boundary Park due to personal reasons.
Wild took over from Paul Scholes earlier this year, himself only at the club for a short time. Wild had previously been caretaker after Frankie Bunn also left, meaning they’re now looking for their fourth manager of the current season (assuming it ends with the final play-off match).
It’s a shambolic situation for the one-time Premier League side to find themsevles in and is yet another blow to the long-suffering supporters who know exactly where to point the finger of blame.
Owner Abdallah Lemsagam told the club’s official site; “Pete worked extremely hard for this club of which I am grateful for, but came to me today saying he wants to spend some time away from football. He’s a great guy, I’m sad to see him go and would’ve liked him to stay with the club but I respect his decision and wish him well for the future.”
Wild took the Latics past the FA Cup third round this season and was a hugely popular figure amongst the fans, but like Scholes before him he now leaves the club hunting a new manager. When it comes to apportioning blame for the utter farce developing at Boundary Park, these fans know exactly where they believe it lays.
