James Coppinger has agreed on a new one-year deal with Doncaster Rovers.
The veteran thirty-eight-year-old has made over six hundred appearances across fifteen seasons for Rovers including an incredible forty-nine during the current campaign.
The midfielder made his debut for the club in 2004 after signing from Exeter City. He made his six hundredth appearances for Rovers in a 2-2 draw with Oxford United in December.
The news is a boost for Rovers supporters on the eve of their playoff tie with Charlton Atletic who they entertain in the first leg at the Keepmoat on Sunday. Coppinger has already experienced promotion with Rovers from League One twice having been part of the side that beat Yorkshire rivals Leeds in the 2008 playoff final at Wembley and the squad that won the League One title in 2013.
Coppinger marked the occasion of his new deal by posting a montage of pictures from each of his seasons at the club on Twitter and thanking the supporters for their ‘constant support’ over the years.
Plenty of supporters soon took to the social media platform to offer thanks and praise for the popular player who for many represents the heart and soul of the club.
Supporters from rival teams also showed their appreciation as did several fellow professionals.
Here is a selection of their responses to the Doncaster legends Tweet.

Simply the best I’ve seen in 58 years of supporting Donny – and I watched the wonderful Alick Jeffrey for six seasons.
