Lincoln City loan player targets extends Sincil Bank stay

Bradford City player Shay McCartan, on loan at Lincoln City, has expressed his desire to stay with League One’s newest side.

his goals earned Lincoln their 1-1 draw with Cheltenham at the weekend which confirmed their place in League One next season. They’re likely to swap places with Bradford, who are rooted to the bottom of the third tier.

McCartan who also bagged the club’s 6,500th league goals earlier in the season, was talking to loca press when he revealed he’d love to make his stay with Danny Cowley’s side permanent.

“From day one I’ve loved my time here, it’s a great club, it’s a club on the up and the set up here is brilliant,” reports the Stacey West.

“I’ve said from day one I’ve loved it. The lads are all great, I love the area as well and if I could make it permanent it would be lovely.”

McCartan, who began his career with Glenavon in Northern Ireland, bagged four times in 28 matches for the Bantams last season and made the season-long loan switch to Sincil bank in the summer.

He’s played 39 times for the Imps going into tomorrow’s match with Carlisle, scoring seven goals.

McCartan has struggled to get a game for the Imps of late, with loan star Danny Rowe preferred behind striker John Akinde.

He’s seized his chances when they’ve come, winning a crucial penalty against MK Dons as well as scoring against Cheltenham and Crawley.

Whether that’s enough to earn him a move to Sincil Bank on a permanent deal remains to be seen.
