Southampton midfielder Jake Hesketh has signed for promotion-chasing League Two side MK Dons.
Hesketh, who scored three goals in 23 appearances for League One outfit Burton Albion during the first half of the season, will spend the remainder of the 2018/19 campaign on loan at Stadium MK.
Hesketh joined Southampton’s prestigious Academy at the age of nine and progressed through the Saints’ youth ranks before making his senior debut as a substitute in a Premier League fixture with Manchester United in December 2014. The Twenty-two-year-old has subsequently made three further senior appearances for the Saints.
He sent the first half of this season on loan at the Brewers and featured in their Carabao Cup run, scoring the winner against both Nottingham Forest and Middlesborough.
Speaking about the signing on mkdons.com, MK boss Paul Tisdale said: “I’m really pleased to be able to bring a talented young player into our squad.”
“He’s a player who has been playing regularly in League One, and he will add an attacking option. It’s great to have him here.”
Hesketh becomes MK Dons’ third signing of the January Transfer Window, following the arrivals of Russell Martin and David Wheeler.
Our View
MK Dons have been in poor form of late after a great start to the season and Hesketh might be the spark that’s needed to help them push on for an immediate return to League One. His form for Burton was excellent, and he will add a creative spark to the Dons midfield. It looks a great signing.
