21-year old Yeovil winger attracting significant EFL interest

Yeovil Town winger Wes McDonald, on a short-term contract at Huish Park, is being linked with a trio of Football League clubs.

Bradford City, Blackpool and Colchester are all thought to covet the former Birmingham City trainee, who joined on a six month deal at the start of the season.

The 21-year old has made 11 appearances for the Glovers, but no talk of a new deal has emerged, leaving him at the mercy of other clubs. The likelihood is he’ll play through to New Year’s day, but then will spark a mini frenzy.

McDonald is no stranger to Blackpool, one of the chasing clubs, having had a trial with the Seasiders over the summer. they’ve since changed manager which may have sparked a change of mind over his ability.

Ambitious Colchester are doing well in the top seven of League Two and they’ll be looking to get more balls into the box for towering striker Frank Nouble, whilst Bradford are in need of fresh legs as they battle against the drop from League One.

Our View

McDonald has been playing regular football, is free and is young too. He’s a dream for any club in the transfer window in that respect, so he’s bound to spark interest.

These stories often emerge though with little substance, so it remains to be seen what comes of it.

One thing is for sure, the short term deal at Huish Park served it’s purpose as McDonald has shown himself to be a player with lots of potential.

We expect much more interest from League One in the coming weeks.
