Peterborough United fans are delighted that 20-year old Matty Stevens is back at the club, following his loan spell with Slough.
He’s been recalled to London Road by manager Steve Evans as ‘reward’ for his exploits in the National League South. He’s bagged 11 times for them, taking his total to 44 in just a season and a half. He slammed home 33 for Kettering last time out.
He’s now set to be part of the first team squad as we enter the packed festive period, something that has clearly delighted a section of the Posh support.
The striker is a former boxer, undefeated during his short career in the ring, signed from Barnet in July 2016 but who has since been out on four loan spells, Sligo Rovers and Cambridge City the other two side.
He’s now back in the fold with Steve Evans side, with fans clearly delighted at the prospect. One said it was ‘about time’, whilst another said that Slough will ‘certainly deserve some credit’ if the player is a success.
Here’s a selection of their thoughts from Twitter.
I'm very pleased at this news and look forward to seeing Matts in matchday squads soon.
I do feel a little sorry for Slough Town however – they'll certainly deserve some credit if/when the boy does well when he gets his big opportunities.
