Nowhere to Hyde as Bury youngster departs Gigg Lane

Bury’s young defender Dougie Nyaupembe has joined National League side Hyde United on a short-term development loan.

Nyaupembe joined the Shakers as a 12-year old and has progressed through the age groups. He was given the honour of captaining the side in the Lancashire Senior Cup Final last season as they downed Fleetwood.

He then earned a place in the first team for their League One fixture with Wimbledon on the final day, coming on as a 65th minute substitute.

The 19-year old has since appeared once more, making his first start in this season’s Checkatrade Trophy win against Leicester City Under 21s, but hasn’t featured in the league.

Hyde United play in the Evo-stick Northern Premier division, one division below the National League North, following their promotion from Division One last season.

Our View

This is a good move, the right back is clearly one for the future at Gigg Lane and the only way they progress is by getting regular men’s football.

The Evo-stick league is tough, the likes of Gainsborough Trinity and North Ferriby feature on the fixture list and both are relatively big clubs. It will give Dougie an excellent chance to impress himself on his temporary club.
