Ricky Miller will serve a one-match ban for Port Vale this weekend as pressure mounts on boss Neil Aspin.
Miller was booked in the 6-2 reverse at home to Lincoln City, his fifth caution of the season, which means he’ll serve a ban against Oldham Athletic.
The striker came on in the second half of the rout at Vale Park which ramped up the heat on Aspin.
His side have been decimated by injuries, Tom Pope was missing this week as was Cristian Montano, but those forward weren’t to blame for the horror show their defenders put in.
Miller is already in last-chance saloon having effectively been pushed out of the door at Peterborough after six months. He recently appeared in court charged with drink driving and is rebuilding his career in Burslem.
The defeat leaves Vale 16th, just six points clear of the final relegation spot.
Our View
Miller isn’t impressing at Vale Park, his petulance is evident but the deadly finishing that saw him succeed at Dover has disappeared. He;s got two goals in Vale colours, one of which came in the EFL Trophy.
Aspin needs big characters such as Tom Pope now, not empty promises such as Ricky Miller.
