Crewe boss David Artell is confident 22-year old Perry Ng will remain with the club, despite not having yet signed a new deal.
Ng Tian-Hee, now as Ng, has broken through into the Crewe first team with a series of impressive displays this season. He’s currently in the last year of his deal, having signed a one-year extension in May 2017, but having an additional one-year option which was taken up.
With his ever-improving displays the academy product has set tongues wagging in League Two, but Artell is confident they can come to an arrangement.
“I am talking with Perry’s agent and I remain confident that his development will continue with us. He is an essential part of our plans and when the time is right, he will move with our blessing,” he told the club’s official website.
“We will help him to improve here and he knows that. He is an intelligent lad and his agent is good. He is one of the better ones, I must say. He is sensible and intelligent and I respect him a lot.”
Furthering the charm offensive, Artell added; “It would nice to get it sorted. It would be nice to put it bed and he could be earning a few bob every week because he is throwing that away at the moment.”
Ng had trials with both Liverpool and Everton at an early age, but revealed to Fourfourtwo that Liverpool didn’t want him and that at Everton there was ‘coaches shouting at you and you don’t want that’.
Our View
Ng is a hot talent and one improving with every game, so League One sides are bound to take note. as much as his agent might have said he’ll sign, the longer it drags on the less likely he is to be at Gresty Road next season.
He needs to keep playing well though, first and foremost.
