Stevenage youngster Donovan Makoma has today joined Woking FC on a 28 day loan.
6ft 1in Makoma started life as a trainee in his native France with Lens, before securing a glamour move to English football with… Barrow.
17 appearances there convinced Stevenage he was worthy of investment, joining for an undisclosed fee in the summer. He had formerly represented his country at Under 16 level.
He’s since made three appearances for Dino Maamria’s side, two in the EFL Trophy and one in the League Cup.
The 19-year-old midfielder will be hoping to boost the promotion hopes of Alan Dowson’s side as the Cardinals look to bounce back after relegation last season. They’re currently in the National League South after experiencing two seasons of struggle in the highly competitive National League set up.
Our View
It makes sense for young players to head out on loan and Makoma is one for the future at Stevenage.
Maamria is a wily coach and he knows the best way for the younger players to develop is for them to play proper senior football. This move makes sense and gives the lad a a chance to settle into a rhythm.
