Forest Green have allowed striker Fabien Robert to join Gloucester City on a month’s loan.
Robert, who has been capped by France at U20 level, began his career at Ligue One outfit Lorient. Following a superb spell playing for Lorient’s under-18 squad, he signed an unprecedented five-year professional contract.
However, after 51 senior appearances and just two goals, he moved to Championship side Doncaster Rovers, He later played League One football for Swindon, but most recently appeared Forest Green Rovers.
Last season he played in the Conference Premier for Aldershot, but his steady decline is continued with a spell at National league South side Gloucester City.
Meanwhile Lewis Thomas has extended his stay at Yate Town until October 14th. The 20-year-old put in a man of the match performance in Yate’s 2-2 draw at home with Moneyfields on Saturday.
If it doesn’t work out for him at Gloucester, where next? The Bostik League? Yate Town? Moneyfields?
Robert is on a steep decline, a sad demise for a player who promised so much. From France Under 20 to Concord Rangers away. it isn’t the direction a player should find himself travelling in.
