Mansfield Town have signed exciting young midfielder Timi Elšnik from Derby County.
The 20-year-old has made the deadline day switch, securing him to the Stags for the rest of the season.
Manager David Flitcroft is no stranger to the U23 prospect, having managed him last season at Swindon Town. The left-sided central midfielder played 26 times for the Robins, scoring five goals.
Now at Mansfield Town, Flitcroft said: “Timi is a player I worked very closely with at Swindon. He is a midfielder with a high quality passing range, creative in his work and who has the ability to score goals from midfield.”
“He is one of the best young professionals I have had the pleasure of working with and has great core values as a person. He is an extremely committed professional.”
Our View
Elsnik is viewed as a big prospect for the future at Derby and is growing in stature with regular senior football. He certainly impressed last season at Swindon and will be hoping to do the same this time out at Mansfield.
They’re expected to be around the automatic promotion spots this campaign and having the exciting young player as an option will only accentuate that.
