Burton Albion have announced the signing of goalkeeper Bradley Collins from Chelsea on a season-long loan deal.
He spent last season with Forest Green Rovers in League Two, forging a place as their first team keeper and making 45 appearances in total.
He’s been brought in by Clough to cover the gap left by Stephen Bywater, who was injured in the Carabao Cup clash with Aston Villa in midweek.
The Brewers won that game 1-0. Liam Boyce gave Nigel Clough’s side the lead but reserve keeper Harry Campbell saved a late penalty on his debut after Bywater was forced off.
The Brewers struggled since relegation from the Championship and down in 21st place in League One, losing four of the opening five games.
The Verdict
Collins was embroiled in a spitting row last season at Forest Green, but he bounced back to make several impressive saves as they just avoided relegation.
He’ll be a reserve, it would be harsh on Campbell if he wasn’t, but Burton may have to turn to him permanently if Bywater doesn’t recover.
