‘Wow’, ‘Brilliant’ – Fleetwood register biggest EFL win in their history & fans are delighted

Fleetwood Town hammered Scunthorpe United 5-0 last night, to secure the biggest win in their short EFL history.

Ched Evans and Wes Burns had put the Cod Army 4-0 up before half an hour had passed, completing blowing away the home side in a show of complete strength.

Scunthorpe never looked like getting back into the game and Ashley Hunter capped off a great night with half an hour left on the clock.

Fleetwood, managed by Joey Barton, are now sixth in the early table, having picked up two wins and a draw. it is in sharp contrast to last season when they briefly flirted with relegation.

The Barton effect has been clear, with the one-time bad boy and part time philosopher clearly settling into his new role with consummate ease. His playing career may have ended abruptly, but if his managerial one continues at this pace, he’s going to be a big success.

Here’s a selection of their fan responses from Twitter, celebrating their record-breaking win.
