Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Stoke City made an excellent start to the season under Mark Robins and remain in the promotion race despite inconsistent form.

The Potters are currently on a run of 3 wins and 2 defeats from their last 5 matches, a sequence that started at Portsmouth.

Robins’ side made the long trip south at the end of October and we’re grateful for a strong display from goalkeeper Viktor Johansson.

The Swede made a number of saves as his side ran out 1-0 winners thanks to a 70th minute own goal from Hayden Matthews.

Next up were Bristol City at the bet365 Stadium, with the Robins unable to handle an inspired Divin Mubama.

The on loan Manchester City youngster struck in the 4th minute to hand his side the lead, before striking again 18 minutes later.

Million Manhoef made it 3-0 after 25 minutes before Junior Tchamadeu made it 4 just minutes Jon to the 2nd period.

Mubama then completed his hat trick in the 67th minute before Bristol City pulled one back through Mark Sykes. The match ended 5-1 to Stoke.

An impressive win away from home at Oxford United followed, with a return to the Stoke City scoresheet for French World Cup winner Steven Nzonzi.

The game was all but over by the 50th minute after 2 strikes from Lewis Baker sandwiched the Nzonzi goal to secure a 3-0 win.

League leaders Coventry City were the visitors to the bet365 after that victory at Oxford. The huge top of the table clash eventually went against Stoke as Ephron Mason-Clark won the game with just 4 minutes left.

Last time out, it was defeat again for the men from the Potteries, this time going down 2-1 to Leicester City.

Stephy Mavididi and Patson Daka gave Leicester a 2-0 half time lead. Joon-Ho Bae pulled one back 3 minutes into the 2nd half but Stoke couldn’t find an equaliser.

Stoke City have scored 22 goals at an average of 1.4 per game so far this season.

Divin Mubama leads the club’s scoring chart with 5, followed closely by Lewis Baker, Million Manhoef and Sorba Thomas on 4 apiece.

Stoke has the best defence in the league in terms of goals conceded, letting in just 12 at an average of 0.8 per game. Viktor Johansson has kept 6 cleans sheets.

Charlton Athletic is enjoying a solid return to the Championship, sitting 13th after 6 wins and 5 defeats from their opening 16 games.

The Addicks are, however, enduring a rough patch with just 1 win from their last 5 outings.

That run began with a 1-1 draw at Hull City. Charlton were 1-0 down just after half time when Joe Gelhardt struck for the Tigers.

That looked to have been enough for all 3 points but Luke Berry had other ideas, equalising in the 90th minute.

Charlie Kelman was on the score sheet when Swansea City were the visitors to The Valley. The former Queens Park Rangers striker scored a minute into the 2nd half.

Kelman’s goal wasn’t enough for maximum points as Adam Idah scored after an hour for the Swans.

A missed Greg Docherty penalty didn’t prove too costly against West Bromwich Albion as Sonny Carey grabbed a winner in the 95th minute.

Josh Windass scored from the spot to give Wrexham all 3 points when Athletic travelled to Wales before Nathan Jones’s side were comprehensively beaten by Southampton.

Jones’s former club ran riot, going in 5-1 to the good at half time at The Valley. Lloyd Jones scored a consolation goal right on the interval.

Charlton Athletic has scored 17 goals at an average of 1.1 per match. The club’s top scorer is Sonny Carey who has scored 5 times, and James Bree has contributed 3 assists.

The Addicks have conceded just 17 goals at an average of 1.1 per game, and have kept an impressive 6 clean sheets.

These two famous Football League clubs have met on just 2 occasions in recent years.

Stoke City spent a large part of the last 2 decades in the Premier League while Charlton have had their struggles in the lower reaches of English football.

Those clashes came during the 2019-20 campaign, and each side claimed a win apiece.

It was Charlton Athletic who came out on top in the first meeting, running out 3-1 winners at The Valley.

Lyle Taylor opened the scoring for the hosts before Thomas Ince equalised for the Potters.

Chuks Aneke put the Addicks back in front before Conor Gallagher, on loan from Chelsea at the time, sealed the win with just 8 minutes to go.

In the reverse fixture, it was a Nick Powell inspired Stoke City who were victorious.

James McClean, assisted by Powell, gave Stoke a 28th minute lead before Ben Purrington levelled things up on the stroke of half time.

Thomas Ince struck just after the break to restore his side’s advantage before man of the match Powell got his name on the scoresheet to secure the 3-1 victory.
