Our 3 Predictions For Notts County vs Harrogate Town:

  • 1st Prediction For Notts County vs Harrogate Town: Match resultNotts County Win –
  • 2nd Prediction For Notts County vs Harrogate Town: Over 2.5 Goals – Yes –
  • 3rd Prediction For Notts County vs Harrogate Town: Both Teams To Score – Yes –

1st Prediction For Notts County vs Harrogate Town: Match result – Notts County Win – 9/20

This is the soft choice, but as home wins go, this looks routine. Notts County are doing well, third in the table and looking for that elusive promotion to the third tier. It’s been more than a decade since the Magpies troubled League One, and for a club of their size, that is a travesty.

On the other hand, Harrogate are perennial strugglers, and 19th in the table will always feel like a win for them. What they lack in stars and depth, they make up for in fight, but sometimes, fight isn’t enough.

Meadow Lane is an impressive theatre for football, and with the Magpies flying under Martin Paterson, who survived a tough start, they’re sure to be red-hot favourites this weekend.

2nd Prediction For Notts County vs Harrogate Town: Over 2.5 Goals – Yes – 7/2

Goals. That’s what you see from Notts County. When they’re in full flow, they’ve got wonderful attacking players, such as Alassano Jatta and Jodi Jones. They can be clinical, effective, and rarely draw a blank at home. The last time they failed to net in a League Two game at Meadow Lane was March (unless you count their play-off semi-final, of course, the less said about that, the better).

While they’re going to score, and they’re likely to win, Harrogate do fight like a fish on a hook. They’re on a 5-game losing run in League Two, but have scored in every away game this season, league and cup, bar a single outing against Bromley. They do like to give the leaders a scare, and long-serving Simon Weaver knows the division well, understanding how to nick a goal against the odds.

3rd Prediction For Notts County vs Harrogate Town: Both Teams To Score – Yes – 7/10

If the Sulphurites are going to score, and Notts are going to win, it stands to reason, BTTS will also come in. It’s not hugely risky at 7/10, but it might be a decent price as part of a 3-game BTTS accumulator.

Notts are top 6 for BTTS in the division, but with Harrogate bottom 4, the odds are pushed a little wider than the usual gimme bets, which makes it good for bumping up your overall odds in an accumulator.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Notts County will be feeling positive coming into this game. They’re second in the 6-game form table, with wins against Barnet, Oldham, Cambridge and Cheltenham behind them. A draw with Swindon was reputable, and only fellow promotion hopefuls Crewe have beaten them in their last 6 fixtures.

At home, they’ve been free-scoring, putting 4 past Crawley without reply in September, and then hitting Oldham for 3 a fortnight later. Recent cup outings have seen them taken all the way by Brackley before exiting on penalties, and then being beaten by Manchester United Under 21s, but they mean little in the context of the league.

Harrogate have been on a miserable run. Discounting the recent game against Newcastle Under 21s, they lost 6 on the spin, including a humiliating 3-0 reverse against hopeless Newport County. Their last league win came away at Gillingham 6 weeks ago, and they seem to be heading in a downward spiral.

These two teams have only met 6 times, with 2 wins for Harrogate and 4 for Notts County. Last season, Notts did the double over Simon Weaver’s side, winning 3-1 at Wetherby Road, and 1-0 at Meadow Lane.

Harrogate did beat the Magpies in the 2020 National League play-off final, earning their promotion to the Football League, but it’s a rare highlight in their matches against Martin Paterson’s charges.
