Mansfield Town vs Plymouth Argyle: Prediction, Lineups, Odds and Betting Tips

Our 3 Predictions for Mansfield Town vs Plymouth Argyle

  • 1st Prediction : Mansfield Town To Win – 23/20
  • 2nd Prediction : Both Teams To Score – Yes – 4/6
  • 3rd Prediction : Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 5/6

First Prediction For Mansfield Town vs Plymouth Argyle – Mansfield Town To Win – 23/20

We need to go against the grain a little on this one as Plymouth Argyle have won all six of the last meetings between the two teams. With current form as indicator you could even say a draw could be the best best, but with the Pilgrims stuttering and without a win in the last three games, they visit the Stags low in confidence. Mansfield have only lost once at home in their six played at the One Call and that just about tips the odds in their favour.

Second Prediction For Mansfield Town vs Plymouth Argyle – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 4/6

These two have been in some entertaining games so far this season, and if the trend continues we should see both light up the scoreboard in this match. Both are scoring with regularity and because of that this looks a decent bet. At home Mansfield have scored 11 times, with Plymouth just behind them with nine while on their travels. The suspect defence of both means that it is likely they will concede too, more so in the case of the visitors as they have let in 13 on the road, while Mansfield just six at home, but that is still a goal a game average.

Third Prediction For Mansfield Town vs Plymouth Argyle – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 5/6

As we can see the two sides have a vulnerability about them which makes goals very likely. Just how many though? Well, with both conceding with relative ease, Mansfield 15 overall, and Plymouth a larger 23, it will make their attacking instincts even greater. Goals have not been an issue for both, and that despite Argyles current poor from. The Stags have mustered 19, whereas their opponents 17, so both well over a goal a game average. In the last six games between the two there has been 15 goals, but with both needing a positive result expect that amount to push up a little higher after this game.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results and Head to Head

Nigel Clough will be pleased that his Mansfield Town side are still in touch with the top end of the table, as they have not been the consistent side he would expect. They had a fine win on the road at Luton Town, only to be pegged back at home by Northampton Town last weekend. This means they just sit outside the top places, but a decent run will set them up well for the busy weeks ahead, and this could be the match that starts that run. Goalscoring has not been an issue, but they as yet do not have a prolific scorer. Tyler Roberts and Rhys Oates have five goals between them, and keep the top end of the pitch ticking over. At the back the assuredness of Adedeji Oshilaja and Stephen McLaughlin have meant they are rarely overrun.

Plymouth Argyle are having a rough time at the moment, and games that Tom Cleverley will have thought they could get something out of have resulted in one or none. This will have to change quickly as their slide down to the lower end of the table means they could well be in a bigger scrap for points in the coming weeks and months. They have not won a game since beating Burton Albion 4-0 away, and a recent loss to rivals Exeter City will have not gone down well. Striker Lorent Tolaj continues to be the main feature, his five goals and an assist means he will grab attention from opposing defences. Malachi Boateng is the engine in midfield, holding in front of a suspect defensive line, but able to get forward on occasion. Look for 21 year old Bradley Ibrahim too, his three goals and two assists will keep defenders on their toes.
