Our 3 Predictions For Coventry City vs Watford:

  • 1st Prediction For Coventry City vs Watford: Match Result – Coventry City – 1/2
  • 2nd Prediction For Coventry City vs Watford: Both Teams To Score – No – 1/1
  • 3rd Prediction For Coventry City vs Watford: Brandon Thomas-Asante To Score Anytime – 13/10

1st Prediction For Coventry City vs Watford: Match Result – Coventry City – 1/2

One of 3 teams yet to taste defeat at home this season, Coventry have won 3 of their 5 games on their own patch. Dropping points twice against Hull City and Norwich City, the Sky Blues have won their last 2 matches at the CBS Arena to maintain their position at the top of the Championship. But, Frank Lampard’s side are only fourth in the Championship home table, though they have played a game fewer than many of their second-tier rivals.

Paulo Pezzolano has eased some of the pressure on his job with 3 wins in their last 5 games, losing only once to Sheffield United. However, the Hornets’ away record still leaves a lot to be desired, as one of only 2 sides yet to win on the road this term. Sitting at the bottom of the away standings, Watford have drawn 2 and lost 3 of their 5 trips outside of Hertfordshire this season.

A home win looks like a formality, and while nothing is a given in the Championship, expect all three points to be staying with the home side come 14:30 on Saturday afternoon.

2nd Prediction For Coventry City vs Watford: Both Teams To Score – No – 1/1

Coventry lead the way in the division for most home goals (13) and fewest goals conceded (2), with 7 of that tally coming in their thrashing of Queens Park Rangers. Incredibly, their total amount of 31 is a mammoth 12 clear of their closest rivals, Bristol City. And while a run of 5 straight clean sheets came to an end in midweek at Portsmouth, goalkeeper Carl Rushworth set a new club record for the most minutes without conceding a goal (613).

Unsurprisingly, given their away record, Watford are bottom of the pile for away goals with just 3. Two of them came in the Hornets’ draw with Portsmouth, meaning they have drawn a blank in 3 of their 5 games away from home. Given the contrasting records of both teams, expect Coventry to keep a clean sheet this weekend, and manage to net at the other end.

3rd Prediction For Coventry City vs Watford: Brandon Thomas-Asante To Score Anytime – 13/10

Joint top of the goalscoring charts with teammate Haji Wright, Brandon Thomas-Asante has risen to this position with a storming run of form. Five goals in 3 games, including both strikes in the win at Portsmouth, have seen him also leapfrog another teammate, Victor Torp, who is next on the list in the second tier with 6.

No player in the division has more goal contributions than Thomas-Asante’s 11, with 7 in his last 5 games. Watford have at least been tight in defence away from Hertfordshire, conceding 6 times in 5 games. But, expect the Hornets’ defence to be the latest side to succumb to the division’s leading marksman.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Five successive wins in itself is an impressive record, but the manner of Coventry’s victories has been particularly eye-catching. Starting this run by easing past West Midlands rivals Birmingham City had followed 3 successive draws, which spurred the Sky Blues on to score 9 goals in 2 away trips. Hitting an impressive Millwall side for 4 was followed by thrashing Sheffield Wednesday 5-0.

Only losing once this season, in the Carabao Cup, Frank Lampard’s team have responded from their Play-Off heartbreak last season in the best possible manner. Two wins in the past week against Blackburn Rovers and Pompey have kept Coventry top of the pile in the Championship. A Halloween trip to Wrexham ends October, before meetings with Sheffield United and Stoke City start November.

Watford responded from a disappointing afternoon at Sheffield United last weekend to complete a turnaround victory against West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday evening. The Hornets have now won their last 3 games at home by a 2-1 scoreline, also seeing off Oxford United and Hull City in the past month in Hertfordshire. The frustration, though, has been their inability to record successive victories, despite sitting 12th in the table and only 3 points off the Play-Offs.

A draw on the South Coast on the opening day of the month saw Watford turn the game on its head before conceding a late equaliser. In September, the Hornets were twice beaten without scoring by Blackburn and Millwall. It doesn’t get any easier for Pezzolano’s side with second-place Middlesbrough next up, before facing Ipswich Town and Bristol City before the final international break of 2025.
