“Men Kicking For No Reason” – Leicester City Star Takes HUGE Swipe At Hull City Defender

Leicester City star Abdul Fatawu has taken a swipe at Hull City defender Akin Famewo for a challenge made on the Ghanaian in their 2-1 loss at the MKM Stadium.

The 21-year-old didn’t hold back on his criticisms of both Famewo and referee Matt Donohue on his social media pages.

A Setback On The Road

On Tuesday, Hull City faced Leicester City in a tense Championship match at the MKM Stadium. Both teams, have different aspirations, bringing intensity to an exciting evening showdown. Hull struck early through Liam Millar, who finished a sharp through-ball in the sixth minute. The goal set the tone of Hull’s ambitions, with the home crowd rapidly getting behing the Tigers.

Leicester responded with heavy amounts of pressure, but a crucial block from defender Semi Ajayi denied Patson Daka’s close-range shot. Hull’s defence held firm, frustrating the visitors’ early attacks. Ryan Giles’ precise cross later found Joe Gelhardt, who volleyed home Hull’s second before halftime.

After the break, Leicester pushed back harder, with Harry Winks’ hitting a curling shot that hit the crossbar; however, their finishing remained blunt.

Hull’s substitutions, including Joel Ndala, added pace to hit on the counter against Leicester’s possession. The Tigers stayed compact, frustrating the visitors’ advances. Leicester pulled one back through Aaron Ramsey’s deflected effort in the 67th minute. The goal sparked hope, but Hull’s resolve didn’t stop.

Both sides traded bookings as the game grew heated. Hamza Choudhury’s late tackle reflected Leicester’s frustration in this tight-fisted encounter.

Fatawu’s Comments

Speaking on his Instagram story, Fatawu showed his frustration with a late challenge from Akin Famewo, which he deemed unnecessary, whilst also aiming at referee Matt Donohue for a failure to protect the players.

“Men kicking for no reason without any punishment, we can’t take a chance to get unnecessary injuries this ref need to take care of us so we can bring out best (sic),”

Fatawu also showcased some pictures from the aftermath of the challenge, showing frustration.

Decent Start

Abdul Fatawu burst onto the scene with Sporting CP in 2022 after dominating Ghana’s Division One with Steadfast FC. He signed with an astonishing €60m release clause; his pace and flair shone in their U-23s and UEFA Youth League.

This later led to a breakout of first-team action at Sporting, albeit limited, which led to a loan to Leicester City in the 2023/24 season, where Fatawu became a Championship standout. He scored six goals and provided 13 assists in 43 games, driving Leicester’s title-winning promotion.

His FA Cup belter against Bournemouth in 2024 cemented his status as a player capable of special moments. Leicester signed him permanently for €17m, handing him the No. 7 shirt for their return to the Premier League in the 2024/25 season.

An ACL injury curtailed his Premier League season, limiting him to 13 appearances with two assists. Fully fit for this term, Fatawu has started all nine Championship games, becoming pivotal to Leicester’s push for an immediate Premier League return.

So far this season he’s notched three goals and two assists, averaging a 7.2 rating. His assist in a 2-1 win over Hull, underlined his class. At 21, Fatawu’s career certainly looks set to ignite if he can get a good run of form.

Abdul Fatawu’s fiery Instagram words after Leicester’s 2-1 defeat to Hull City on Tuesday targeted defender Akin Famewo’s robust challenge and referee Matt Donohue’s oversight. The 21-year-old winger, nursing what felt like an unnecessary hack at his foot, vented frustration that echoed across social media, calling out the “cowardly” tackle that left him limping.

It’s probably just a knee-jerk reaction, born from the sting of a poor performance where Leicester squandered chances and conceded twice, with the aftermath of the challenge not looking malicious. Fatawu had a decent game with a near-goal curler denied by the keeper, but his side’s disjointed display, of dominating possession yet lacking power up top, deserved scrutiny over officiating gripes.

That said, it’s vital that Fatawu channels this fire productively. As Leicester’s star man with three goals and two assists already this season, he must help to drive the squad forward, rallying his teammates for the promotion task ahead. Turn the rant into powering your game; the Foxes can’t afford distractions when key games loom.
