Our Three Predictions For Derby County vs Norwich City

  • Prediction 1 – Carlton Morris To Score – 2/1
  • Prediction 2 – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 23/20
  • Prediction 3 – Derby County To Win – 11/8

First Prediction For Derby County vs Norwich City – Carlton Morris To Score – 2/1

Despite overall poor performances by Derby this season, Carlton Morris has been a positive note with 4 goals in 10 appearances for the Rams. Signing from Luton Town, Morris has largely fit in well at Pride Park, but has seen a dry patch with no goals in his last 6 matches. With how Norwich have played as of late, now would be a great time for him to break his drought and the stats back him, with some of the best xG on target out of all Championship forwards this season. There is a good chance then that the 29-year-old could come back to haunt his former club.

Second Prediction For Derby County vs Norwich City – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 23/20

With neither side performing particularly well as of late, this game could see much more attacking football from both. For Norwich and Liam Manning, it is simple. Fail to win and the former Bristol City boss is likely to be sacked, meaning that the Canaries need to push onwards in this game if they are to save their new boss’s career at Carrow Road. However, that may play into Derby County’s hands, knowing that they are likely to see a more attacking-minded focused opponents and usually will play with the counterattack in mind. Neither defence have looked great meaning players like Morris or Josh Sargent may be able to get a few attempts on goal.

Third Prediction For Derby County vs Norwich City – Derby County To Win – 11/8

John Eustace’s side have a great chance at getting a result this time out and there is no reason why they couldn’t do so. Norwich have been nothing short of terrible over the past month or so and that has seen Liam Manning come close to recieving the sack, and is perhaps lucky not to have been given his marching orders after losing at home to Bristol City. However, City’s joys have come on the road with 2 wins and 2 draws so far, but face a Derby team that can definitely go toe to toe with the best in the division. It may be a close-fought affair, but the home team may just edge out Norwich and cause action from the directors at Carrow Road.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head

Derby County have had a tough run as of late, leaving them largely in the same situation as they were last season, dancing around the relegation places. They enter midweek in 21st place, with 8 points, ahead of Blackburn Rovers by a single point having played a game more. It was a loss last time out for the Rams at the weekend, losing narrowly to Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium. That extended their winless run to five matches, and remain on just 1 win all season when they beat West Bromwich Albion. John Eustace has no fresh injury concerns to deal with, as still await the return of Owen Beck from repeated fitness issues.

The big story of this game is the future of Liam Manning, who, according to reports from Football Insider earlier today, is close to being given the sack. He has overseen a torrid 6 weeks of football, losing 4 of their last 5 matches in the Championship and will head into Tuesday in 20th place, level on points with Derby. It was a 6th home loss of the season for the Canaries on Saturday, losing 1-0 to Manning’s former side Bristol City, leading to heavy questions about the future of both the manager and sporting director Ben Knapper. City are still dogged with injuries and are likely to have as many as 8 players out for the trip to the East Midlands.

Norwich had the upper hand in last season’s matches, winning 3-2 at Pride Park back in September and perhaps squandered doing the double after conceding a late penalty at Carrow Road. City are unbeaten in 3 matches over County, and hold a 5-4-4 winning record over their opponents since 2010.
