Huddersfield Town welcome Bolton Wanderers to the Accu Stadium as both teams look to continue their respective League One promotion bids.
Our Three Predictions For Huddersfield Town vs Bolton Wanderers
- First Prediction: Huddersfield Town To Win – 17/10
- Second Prediction: Both Teams To Score – 7/10
- Third Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals – 9/10
First Prediction For Huddersfield Town vs Bolton Wanderers – Huddersfield Town To Win – 17/10
Huddersfield’s clash with Luton Town on Saturday was postponed due to international call-ups, giving manager Lee Grant an extended period to reflect on their 2-1 defeat against Stockport County in their last outing. This was the Terriers first home defeat of the campaign and also saw them drop out of the top six for the first time since August.
The West Yorkshire-based outfit will be looking to recover here, especially as they have failed to win in their last two home fixtures. A 0-0 draw with Burton Albion did end an extended winning run at the Accu Stadium, having previously beaten Leyton Orient, Doncaster Rovers, Stevenage and Peterborough United.
They come up against a Bolton side that have yet to win away from the Toughsheet Community Stadium so far. They have the second worst away record in League One and enter this game on the back of a humiliating 3-0 loss at struggling Burton.
This followed on from a 2-0 defeat at Northampton Town at Sixfields, ending a run of successive 1-1 draws on the road against Leyton Orient, Blackpool and Barnsley. As a result, the hosts will be confident they can emerge with the victory and pile more pressure on Trotters boss Steven Schumacher.
Second Prediction For Huddersfield Town vs Bolton Wanderers – Both Teams To Score – 7/10
Only Burton have stopped Huddersfield scoring this season and with the attacking talent that Lee Grant possesses, it would be a shock to see another shut out here. They have scored 17 times in 11 games, although have conceded on 13 occasions.
Despite that, they’ve only been involved in games where both teams have scored in 45% of their outings, a figure which shrinks to 33% at the Accu Stadium. However, a 3-2 win over Peterborough and a 2-1 defeat against Stockport County within the last few weeks show that injuries are starting to take their toll across the back line.
Bolton have failed to score in half of their away games so far this season but have conceded in all of them. In fact, a clean sheet in general is a rarity for the Trotters and there’s nothing to suggest that this will change here.
Their horror show against Burton on Saturday would have been noted by Huddersfield and they will expect to breach Steven Schumacher’s back line. Despite that, Bolton have shown at times that they are resilient and they’re going to need that in abundance here.
Still, they do rank high in the both teams to score market, with 58% of their fixtures thus far hitting this marker.
Third Prediction For Huddersfield Town vs Bolton Wanderers – Over 2.5 Goals – 9/10
Although form for both teams has been sketchy as of late, there’s no getting away from the fact that the pair are expected to challenge for promotion this season. This could make for an open game and it’s likely that the winning team will need to score at least twice.
Huddersfield have been involved in several high scoring games thus far and rank joint fourth in this market in League One. 55% of their fixtures to date have seen at least 3 goals, although that figure does fall slightly to 50% at the Accu Stadium.
In stark contrast, Bolton rank amongst the division’s lowest in this market, with just 33% of their outings hitting this marker. However, 3 of their last 4 have all been high scoring affairs.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:
Huddersfield were one of the pre-season favourites to win League One and they justified that in their early form. They began the campaign with back-to-back wins over Leyton Orient (3-0) and Reading (2-0) but then suffered a blow when they lost 3-2 to Blackpool.
A pair of home wins followed, where they beat Doncaster Rovers (2-0) and Stevenage (1-0), although another away defeat against Barnsley (3-1) showed their inconsistencies. It took a late Joe Taylor goal to secure a 3-2 win over Peterborough United but Lee Grant’s side lost ground on the leaders when they lost 3-1 at Bradford City before a disappointing 0-0 home draw against Burton Albion.
The Terriers finished September with a 1-0 win away at Exeter City, although they enter this game on the back of a defeat having lost 2-1 to Stockport County at the Accu Stadium.
Bolton have endured an inconsistent opening few months of the season and showed that right from the off. Steven Schumacher’s side lost 2-0 to Stockport County on the opening day before beating Plymouth Argyle by the same scoreline a week later.
The remainder of August all garnered the same result, with the Trotters drawing 1-1 with Barnsley, Reading, Lincoln City and Blackpool. A temporary reprieve followed with a comfortable 3-0 victory over AFC Wimbledon but it was soon back to familiar surroundings with another 1-1 draw, this time against Leyton Orient.
The last month has produced excellent home wins over rivals Wigan Athletic (4-1) and Peterborough United (2-1), although they have lost back-to-back away games against Northampton Town (2-0) and Burton Albion (3-0).
Bolton did win on their last visit to the Accu Stadium when they emerged with a 1-0 victory in January. However, Huddersfield produced a stunning 4-0 triumph at the Toughsheet Community Stadium earlier in the season. The Terriers last home win against the Greater Manchester-based side came in 2015 in a game that finished 4-1. Overall, the Trotters have the stronger record in this fixture, winning 48 of the previous 106 meetings. Huddersfield have 38 victories whilst this tie has produced 20 draws.
