Our Three Predictions For Gillingham v Cheltenham Town

Prediction 1 – Gillingham To Win – 4/7

Prediction 2 – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 19/20

Prediction 3 – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 19/20

First Prediction For Gillingham v Cheltenham Town – Gillingham To Win – 4/7

After a great start to the season Gillingham have lost two straight and slipped to fourth spot. They have a great chance to get back on track as they host 21st place Cheltenham Town. At home The Gills have won four of five, losing their 100% record recently to Harrogate Town in a shock loss. They then backed this up with a defeat on the road at Milton Keynes Dons. Cheltenham Town have yet to win away, losing four of their five road games, and picking up a point in the other. This does look like a tall order for the visitors, and may well feel the wrath of a team looking to right a couple of wrongs.

Second Prediction For Gillingham v Cheltenham Town – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 19/20

As they look to get back on track expect plenty of goalmouth action from Gillingham. They have been in fine form in the early part of the season, and have amassed a total of 17 goals, seven of which have come at home. They have not been great at keeping opposition out though, and with 10 conceded it will give opposition some hope. Although Cheltenham scored twice in their win last weekend, to do so again may be a stretch, but with their tails up there could be opportunities. On the road they have only managed two goals, and with six overall it does not bode well, especially as they have conceded a huge 24 in total. So goals aplenty could be offer in this match – for the home side in particular.

Third Prediction For Gillingham v Cheltenham Town – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 19/20

Put simply Gillingham will score in this game. A side that has been burnt recently will want to start their own fire again, and what better than a team sitting at the wrong end of the table. 17 goals so far is getting close to two per game, and with a defence that does allow chances, more so recently with four conceded in two games, Cheltenham could well exploit a team that will push on looking for goals. With only six so far though they will have to lace up their scoring boots much better, and the defence is woeful, even with the clean sheet in last weeks win. An open game, will result in both keeping the scoreboard operator busy.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head To Head

Gareth Ainsworth has set his team up in his unique style and so far is reaping the rewards. A great start saw them top the table briefly, but two losses have been a setback, but are still very much a threat to the preseason contenders. To keep up the good start they will want goals from Elliott Nevitt who has yet to get off the mark despite being ever present. His strike partner Josh Andrews has bagged two goals, but the saving grace is that the goals have been shared around 12 players. At the back they have been fairly solid, but some recent lapses will have to be remedied. Sam Gale has been dependable, as has Andy Smith. Robbie McKenzie is one to look out for with his defensive midfield displays.

Cheltenham Town have finally got a win that could springboard their season as they sit in 21st position. At least that is what boss Steve Cotterill will be hoping, and drilling into his team. One bright spot so far has been Isaac Hutchinson. The 25 year old attacker has grabbed three goals, half of the amount the side have scored in the league so far. If he had more support then the team could start to get more positive results. In this game though they will be tested at the back, and that is where the problem lay in this part of the season. 24 goals have been conceded. So, Sam Sherring, George Harmon, and veteran James Wilson will need to raise their games.
