Our Three Predictions For Huddersfield Town vs Stockport County
- First Prediction: Huddersfield Town To Win – 7/5
- Second Prediction: Both Teams To Score – 4/5
- Third Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals – 19/20
First Prediction For Huddersfield Town vs Stockport County – Huddersfield Town To Win – 7/5
Huddersfield began the season as one of the favourites to secure promotion to the Championship and their early season form justifies that tag. They currently sit fifth in the table, although they are four points behind leaders Bradford City whilst Stevenage and Cardiff City have both played a game less. The Terriers have been largely impressive at the Accu Stadium, winning four and drawing one of their five games in front of their own supporters in League One. However, that draw came in their last outing when they produced a disappointing 0-0 against bottom club Burton Albion. They did return to winning ways on Saturday though, securing a narrow 1-0 victory over Exeter City.
Stockport sit two places behind Huddersfield in the table but it’s fair to say they have been inconsistent as of late. Last weekend’s 1-0 triumph over Rotherham United was a good result but they were winless in their three games prior to that. The Hatters have picked up maximum points on their travels on two occasions this season, although both were against teams at the wrong end of the table. A draw isn’t out of the question here but Huddersfield are a well-drilled team and are strong in attack, so may just edge the win.
Second Prediction For Huddersfield Town vs Stockport County – Both Teams To Score – 4/5
Huddersfield have been strong in front of goal this season, only failing to score once. That came in the 0-0 draw against Burton Albion earlier this month, but the other nine fixtures have seen them find the back of the net at least once. Although the Brewers escaped with a point, Lee Grant’s side have scored nine goals in five games at the Accu Stadium, showing where their strong point is. They may have six clean sheets to their name but they face a much sterner test on Saturday.
In short, Stockport always score. They’ve hit at least one goal in all nine of their League One outings to date, showing their attacking abilities. However, they also tend to concede and last weekend’s 1-0 win over Rotherham United ended a run of seven successive league games in which they’ve had to pick the ball out of their own net. This also extends to cup competitions, where they have conceded in all three of their fixtures away from League One.
Third Prediction For Huddersfield Town vs Stockport County – Over 2.5 Goals – 19/20
If Huddersfield are to pick up the three points, they are likely to have to score twice. Although their last two games have only produced one goal between them, their three prior to that were all entertaining affairs. The Terriers 3-2 win over Peterborough United was sandwiched by 3-1 defeats against Barnsley and Bradford City. Furthermore, half of their league outings to date have seen at least three goals.
Like their opponents, Stockport have also been involved in five games which have hit this marker. However, they have played nine times to Huddersfield’s 10. Their 4-2 defeat at Plymouth Argyle is their only game this month which has been a high scoring affair, although their four games prior to that all produced at least three goals.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:
Huddersfield have started the season well but will perhaps feel that there has been one or two missed opportunities along the way. Lee Grant’s tenure got off to a flyer when he picked up successive wins in his first two competitive fixtures, beating Leyton Orient (3-0) and Reading (2-0). A first defeat of the campaign followed when they were beaten 3-2 by 10-men Blackpool, but they bounced back at the first opportunity to pick up victories over Doncaster Rovers (2-0) and Stevenage (1-0). The Terriers then lost successive away games 3-1, with both Barnsley and Bradford City providing the hammer blows. They did secure a last gasp 3-2 win over Peterborough United in between though. The visit of bottom club Burton Albion represented a fantastic opportunity to close the gap on those above them. However, they could only secure a disappointing 0-0 draw. The West Yorkshire-based outfit did return to winning ways last weekend though, edging past Exeter City by a solitary goal from Leo Castledine.
Stockport were an outside tip to win League One this season and showed exactly why they deserved that tag when they beat Bolton Wanderers 2-0 in the opening day. Another three points followed with a 2-1 win over Wycombe Wanderers, but it’s fair to say that the Hatters have been largely inconsistent since. A 2-2 draw at Leyton Orient was a respectable point but they will have been disappointed to lose 2-1 at home to Bradford City. Dave Challinor’s side then edged past struggling Burton Albion (2-1) before another point on the road against Wigan Athletic (1-1). They were well beaten by Plymouth Argyle (4-2) at the beginning of the month, whilst a 1-1 draw against Cardiff City a week later could be an important point against a team also expected to challenge for promotion. Like Huddersfield, Stockport picked up a 1-0 away win last week when a Kyle Wootton goal handed them three points at Rotherham United.
Last season’s two meetings were the first between the pair since 2010. They both picked up a win apiece, with Huddersfield winning 1-0 at the Accu Stadium and Stockport securing a 2-1 victory at Edgeley Park. Overall, it is the Terriers that have the stronger record in this fixture, winning 23 of the previous 51 clashes. Stockport have 14 wins whilst the two have also played out 14 draws, the last of which came in 2009.
