Our Three Predictions For Norwich City vs West Bromwich Albion

  • Prediction 1 – Josh Sargent To Score – 8/5
  • Prediction 2 – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 10/11
  • Prediction 3 – Match To End In A Draw – 23/10

First Prediction For Norwich City vs West Bromwich Albion – Josh Sargent To Score – 8/5

Perhaps the only bright spot of a tough start for Norwich, Sargent has already shown why he was touted for big moves to Germany and Italy this summer. With five goals in seven matches, the American is tied with Coventry City‘s Victor Torp and Haji Wright as the top goalscorers in the second tier so far. However, he has had a tough time since returning from international duty, failing to score in 264 minutes of action. Nevertheless, it is a certainty he will get some chances in this game, also leading the league in shots taken and shots put on target as well as a top rank in non-penalty xG.

Second Prediction For Norwich City vs West Bromwich Albion – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 10/11

Neither side have been clean as of late and with two strong attacks facing each other there may be a few goals. The Canaries have just one clean sheet all season in the away win over Blackburn Rovers and have been horrid at home so far this season, conceding three to both Southampton and Wrexham at Carrow Road. West Brom have had a more solid defensive structure to them but have still averaged conceding one goal per game and have two clean sheets to their name. The return of Josh Maja to Ryan Mason’s side will offer renewed hope for Ryan Mason and against a poor Norwich side still buoyed by Josh Sargent’s performances, chances could be plenty.

Third Prediction For Norwich City vs West Bromwich Albion – Match To End In A Draw – 23/10

These two playoff contenders have not had the starts they would have hoped for and now face each other at key points of their season. For Norwich, a poor result will put heaps of pressure on Liam Manning after just 10 games of his tenure, so he surely needs a result to go in his favour. West Brom have managed to keep themselves in touch of the top six but have struggled in recent games, albeit against top sides like Leicester City and Middlesbrough. Star factor could play a big outcome in what happens in this game but there is not a lot to seperate these sides, so a draw could be the result to pick on Wednesday.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head

Discontent has firmly started to creep in at Norwich City after a slow start to the season, but The Canaries find themselves still in a competitive competition with eight points after seven matches, not that far behind the play-off chasing pack. It has been rough going as of late for City, with two draws sandwiching their loss to Wrexham, but did pick up those points against competitive sides in Stoke City and Coventry City. It was a 1-1 draw with the Potters last time out, with Jovon Makama’s first half effort being cancelled out by Sorba Thomas just after the restart. Norwich have been handed another injury blow in the fallout from that game, with Liam Manning confirming Anis Ben Slimane has joined the injury list and will be out ‘for months’.

West Bromwich Albion have had a solid but inconsistent start to life under Ryan Mason, but like Norwich have not won in their last three matches. Losses to Derby County and Middlesbrough saw the Baggies fall back from the top of the table, but did recover a promising point against Leicester City last time out, which perhaps should have been more if not for late heartbreak at the hands of a Nat Phillips own goal. They enter the weekend in eighth, just two points behind Coventry in second, and could gain ground with league leaders Middlesbrough facing Stoke. Josh Maja returned to action against the Foxes, and Daryl Dike and Tammer Bany Odeh are closing in on a return.

There’s a lot of matches to pick from between these sides since 2011, with 18 matches played between these sides in the Championship, Premier League and both cup competitions. Norwich hold the slight edge with eight wins to seven, and took the lead in the last game, beating Albion 1-0 at Carrow Road back in March. The other fixture last season ended 2-2. In the Championship, West Brom have won three games to Norwich’s two, and picked up the only away side in the competition for either side back in 2018.
