Colchester United have confirmed the departure of head of analysis Enda Brannock, who is leaving the League Two side to concentrate on his thriving football website.
Brannock joined the U’s in December 2023 and had been head of analysis since last summer, but his social media-driven tactical work has grown into a full-time career.
From Colchester To A Global Audience
The 31-year-old analyst holds an MSc in Performance Analysis and first arrived at Colchester as a first-team and under-21 analyst. He was promoted to head of analysis in 2024, working closely with head coach Danny Cowley and his staff during a period of rebuilding at the JobServe Community Stadium.
However, the explosion of his EBL website and social media channels has opened up a new direction.
Brannock’s platform, which promotes itself under the strapline “where football minds go deeper,” has built a reputation for in-depth tactical breakdowns that move beyond quick takes or surface-level opinion. His threads have amassed more than 327 million views in the past year alone, placing him among the top 0.01 per cent of creators on the platform.
With more than 192,000 followers and thousands of subscribers, the demand has grown too large to juggle alongside club duties.

Cowley Pays Tribute
U’s boss Cowley admitted disappointment at losing such a valuable member of his backroom team.
“We were gutted to lose Enda, because he’d made so much progress,” he said. “He does a lot of work through social media and has a huge number of followers. His social media is all football-related, tactical analysis.”
Brannock’s eye for detail and ability to present analysis clearly made him a respected figure in the Colchester set-up, particularly in bridging first-team work with the development pathway. His move reflects the increasing influence of independent analysts who are reaching audiences far beyond club environments.
Colchester are now in the process of appointing his successor, with over 100 applications already submitted for the vacant role. Alongside the changes in the analysis department, the club have also brought in Kyle Fairgrieve as their new head of medical, further reshaping their off-field structure as they look to climb away from the lower reaches of League Two.
Writer’s View
Brannock’s departure underlines how football analysis is evolving, with independent platforms increasingly rivaling traditional club roles for influence and reach. Colchester lose a sharp tactical mind, but his decision reflects the opportunities available for analysts able to connect with huge online audiences.
For the U’s, the challenge will be finding a replacement who can maintain the level of insight that Cowley values, while Brannock continues to build a personal brand that already has global recognition.
