Norwich City Fans Make Thoughts Clear On Summer Signing

Norwich City supporters are calling for head coach Liam Manning to start summer signing Jovon Makama after the Canaries suffered a third defeat of the season on Saturday.

The 21-year-old arrived at Carrow Road last month from Lincoln City for a fee of £1.5 million. He had appeared on the radar of the East Anglians after some impressive form for the Imps, where he had nailed down a starting berth after rising through the club’s academy.

The attacker hit 11 goals in all competitions last season, including a hat trick in a 5-0 win over Bristol Rovers in March. His exit from the LNER Stadium came as a shock to local fans, with Lincoln announcing a bid had been accepted shortly before their season opener against Reading.

Fans Urge Manning To Start Makama

Makama has so far played a bit-part role at his new club and is yet to start a game. Prior to the weekend, he had played just 13 Championship minutes. However, as Norwich surrendered a one goal lead to fall 3-1 behind to Wrexham, he was introduced midway through the second half.

The winger responded by bagging his first goal for the club, although his effort came in added time and wasn’t enough to turn things around, with his side losing 3-2. With a tough trip to high-flying Stoke City on the horizon, supporters have urged Manning to start their latest recruit.

Writer’s View

It’s been a poor start to the season for Norwich and they are running the risk of repeating last season’s errors. Liam Manning clearly needs to try something different and Jovon Makama could be the answer. The attacker is an exceptional young talent and they landed a real coup when they signed him from Lincoln last month. Nobody at Sincil Bank expected him to move on this summer, although there was an acceptance that he could at the end of the 2025/26 campaign. The Canaries stole a march on others keeping tabs on him by jumping a year earlier. They now need to utilise him.
