Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Fulham have started the Premier League season steadily, winning two and drawing two of their opening five matches. Marco Silva’s side drew 1-1 away at Brighton & Hove Albion on the opening day of their season thanks to a 96th minute Rodrigo Muniz strike and followed that up with a home draw by the same scoreline to Manchester United.

They booked there place in this game by beating Championship side Bristol City 2-0 at Craven Cottage, thanks to an own goal and a Raul Jimenez strike.

Defeat at Stamford Bridge followed before back-to-back Premier League wins against Leeds United and Brentford. Fulham again left it late against Leeds as they needed a 94th minute own goal to take all three points before a come-from-behind win at home to Brentford. The Bees took the lead in the 20th minute before Alex Iwobi, Harry Wilson and another own goal sealed the win.

Fulham have scored six goals so far this season and their top scorer is own goals, with four other players registering a goal apiece. Alex Iwobi has contributed two assists and they have kept one clean sheet.

Cambridge United suffered relegation from League One last season but have started the new campaign in positive form, winning four of their first nine matches and putting 14 points on the board. The U’s have lost just once in their last five games in all competitions, going down 1-0 at home to Oldham Athletic.

United booked their place at Craven Cottage thanks to an impressive 3-1 over Championship outfit Charlton Athletic at the Cledara Abbey Stadium. James Brophy and Kylian Kouassi gave the hosts a 2-0 lead inside half an hour before the impressive Zak Bradshaw sealed the memorable victory.

There was no hangover from that victory as Harris’s side followed it up by beating Newport County 2-0 thanks to goals from Kelland Watts and another Brophy strike. The defeat to Oldham was followed by the feeling of two points being dropped away at Grimsby Town. Adam Mayor looked to have secured all three points in Cleethorpes before the Mariners equalised in the 90th minute.

Last time out, Cambridge had to come from behind to beat Fleetwood Town at home thanks to two quick fire goals from Adam Mayor and Shayne Lavery after Will Davies had given the visitors a 62nd minute lead.

Cambridge United have scored 11 goals this season with James Brophy leading the soring charts on three, ahead of Adam Mayor and Louis Appere who have two goals each. The U’s have the fifth best defence in the division with nine goals conceded and have kept two clean sheets.

These two sides have not met competitively for nearly 28 years as their fortunes took very different paths. That last meeting in May 1997 saw Fulham win 1-0 as they enjoyed promotion from the old Division 3. They had already beaten the U’s 3-0 at Craven Cottage earlier in the season.

Prior to that season, Cambridge United had gone eight games unbeaten against their London opponents during the early to mid 1990s, as John Beck masterminded their path up the league pyramid. Two of those matches included victories during the 1990-91 season that saw Cambridge win the third division and Fulham finish a lowly 21st.
