Huddersfield Town welcome Burton Albion to the Accu Stadium on Saturday with both teams fighting at opposite ends of the League One table.
Our Three Predictions For Huddersfield Town vs Burton Albion
- First Prediction: Huddersfield Town To Win – 11/20
- Second Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals – 7/10
- Third Prediction: Alfie May To Score Anytime – 1/1
First Prediction For Huddersfield Town vs Burton Albion – Huddersfield Town To Win – 11/20
Huddersfield were heavily expected to push for promotion from League One this season and their early results seem to have justified this tag. They head into this game in sixth place and two points behind leaders Cardiff City. They will see last weekend as a missed opportunity though. The Terriers suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of surprise package Bradford City when a win would have seen them move to the top of the table. They’re back on home soil this weekend though, where they welcome struggling Burton Albion to the Accu Stadium. Lee Grant’s side are expected to return to winning ways and it’s easy to see why. They’ve won all four league games in front of their own supporters, whilst also beating Leicester City on penalties in the Carabao Cup and hammering Newcastle United under-21s in the EFL Trophy.
Burton sit in the bottom four although it’s worth noting that they have played less games than the rest of the division. Still, the four points they have picked up thus far all game in their first three games, with a 2-1 win over Mansfield Town on the opening day and a 0-0 draw with Port Vale a fortnight later. That victory over the Stags remains their only triumph this season and it’s hard to see that changing here.
Second Prediction For Huddersfield Town vs Burton Albion – Over 2.5 Goals – 7/10
Huddersfield possess a wealth of attacking talent and they have the potential to dish out a bit of a drubbing here. They’re already averaging almost two goals a game and have stuck three past Leyton Orient and Peterborough United, both at the Accu Stadium. Aside from that, five of their eight league outings have seen at least three goals, including their last three games.
Burton have failed to score in their last two, losing 3-0 and 1-0 to Luton Town and Lincoln City respectively. Alongside that defeat against the Imps, a 0-0 draw with Port Vale are the only fixtures they’ve been involved in which have produced under 2.5 goals. Their two away outings have all gone over this market, where they lost 3-2 at Barnsley and 2-1 against Stockport County.
Third Prediction For Huddersfield Town vs Burton Albion – Alfie May To Score Anytime – 1/1
It’s very rare to see an anytime goalscorer at evens, but there is a reason Alfie May is priced so low. He’s been League One’s standout attacker for several seasons now and has hit the ground running at Huddersfield. The 32-year-old has two goals and two assists to his name this season but dropped to the bench for last weekend’s defeat at Bradford City. This was partly due to the resurgence of Joe Taylor, but he replaced the former Lincoln City loanee just before the hour mark.
Lee Grant is likely to restore his talisman to the starting lineup here and he could have a field day against one of the teams struggling to keep their place in League One.

Full Preview of the Game: Last Results and Head-To-Head
Huddersfield have had a decent start to the season but they will be slightly disappointed not to be further up the table. They began with back-to-back wins over Leyton Orient (3-0) and Reading (2-0) but a 3-2 reverse at Blackpool halted their momentum. Lee Grant’s side bounced back to record successive home wins over Doncaster Rovers (2-0) and Stevenage (1-0), although tasted defeat on the road again when they lost 3-2 at Oakwell to Barnsley. A last-ditch 3-2 win over Peterborough United followed before last weekend’s 3-1 loss against Bradford City at Valley Parade.
Burton would have been optimistic of the season ahead when they recorded a 2-1 victory over Mansfield Town on the opening day. However, they haven’t won in the league since. They mirrored Huddersfield’s 3-2 loss at Barnsley before recording a 0-0 draw against newly promoted Port Vale. They head into this fixture on the back of three successive losses against Stockport County (2-1), Luton Town (3-0) and Lincoln City (1-0).
There have only been four previous meetings in the EFL between these two teams, with Burton holding the superior record. Their first clash came during the Brewers’ brief stint in the Championship in the 2016/17 season, with Huddersfield winning 1-0 at the Pirelli Stadium. Burton won the reverse tie by the same scoreline. The Terriers’ relegation to League One in 2024 set up last season’s meetings, with a 1-1 draw played out at the Accu Stadium, whilst the Staffordshire-based team recorded an excellent 3-0 win at home in April.
