Our Three Predictions for Queens Park Rangers vs Stoke City

  • First Prediction: Stoke City to win – 3/2
  • Second Prediction: Over 1.5 goals to be scored – 3/10
  • Third Prediction: Richard Kone to score at any time – 37/20

First Prediction for Queens Park Rangers vs Stoke City – Stoke City to win – 3/2

Although QPR have picked up form in recent weeks, Stoke are still flying in the second tier this season, and currently sit second on 12 points, one point behind table toppers Middlesbrough. Mark Robins’ side have only lost one Championship game so far, which came in a tight affair at the hands of fifth-placed West Bromwich Albion. The Potters have a 100% record when it comes to away games this season, and whilst their opponents are unbeaten at home, this is by far the toughest test in terms of current league positioning, with their opponents looking to continue their good form and good start to the 2025/26 Championship season. In their last five games in all competitions, the hoops have lost three of their five games, including a loss against League One side Plymouth Argyle and a 7-1 thrashing away at Coventry City, whilst the visitors have won three of their last five, including big wins over Southampton and Birmingham City, two teams who have been tipped to do well this season. Even though Julien Stephan’s side have picked it up in recent games, it still looks likely that second-placed Stoke are set to win yet another game on the road.

Second Prediction for Queens Park Rangers vs Stoke City – Over 1.5 goals to be scored – 3/10

One thing both sides have proved they can do in the early stages of this season is score goals. Both sides have scored nine goals, which is the joint-third best record in the league, behind only Bristol City and Coventry City in terms of scoring goals. However, one thing one side have proved they can do better than the other is defend, the hosts conceding nine more goals than their counterparts with 12, whilst the Potters have only conceded three goals. Although their league record is impressive, Robins’ side have proved their defensive frailties in the Carabao Cup, conceding three to third-tier side Bradford City. QPR have conceded the joint-most goals in the second tier, only level with struggling Steel City sides, Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United, but seven of these goals came in one game against promotion-fighting Coventry. On average, both sides score 1.80 goals each per game, whilst defensively, QPR concede an average of 2.40 goals per game. Although Stoke have a very respectable defensive record, neither side have struggled on the goal front this season, meaning this game could be a relatively high-scoring affair at Loftus Road on Saturday.

Third Prediction for Queens Park Rangers vs Stoke City – Richard Kone to score at any time – 37/20

For many League One fans, it is not surprising to see ex-Wycombe Wanderers striker Richard Kone scoring for fun in the second tier. Kone joined QPR after a long window in which he was consistently linked with moves away from Adams Park, after scoring 21 goals in all competitions last season. The Championship outfit are already seeing what the 22-year-old can do after joining the club just last month. Not only is Kone the club’s top scorer, he’s also the joint third top scorer in the league, and has scored three goals, one in each start, in his last three games. It’s obvious why such a natural goal scorer who makes it look easy is expected to score a fourth goal in four games to further help his new side.

Full Preview of the Game – Last Results and Head-To-Head

As mentioned above, both sides come into this on mixed form, 12th-placed QPR winning two games on the spin in the league after spending the first three weekends winless, whilst their opponents, Stoke, have been flying and sit second, only losing one league game so far.

Neither side finished in the top half last season; the hosts finished 15th on 56 points, while the visitors finished just two points above the relegation zone in a tight relegation battle, ultimately finishing 18th. Although this season is very much in its early form, the Potters have made a shockingly good start, and could continue that by picking up three points on the road, or could their opponents make it three wins on the spin.

Since 2011, these sides have met 20 times, in the Premier League and more recently in the second tier. The number of wins each side have is even, with both sides on seven, whilst the other six games have ended level after 90 minutes. Last time these sides met, Stoke came away with a 3-1 win at home at the Best365 Stadium last season, thanks to goals from Joon-Ho Bae, Junior Tchamadeu and Million Manhoef. Loanee Min-Hyeok Yang got a consolation goal for QPR 12 minutes from time.
