Our Three Predictions For Bolton Wanderers v Wigan Athletic

Prediction 1 – Wigan Athletic To Win – 19/5

Prediction 2 – Match To End In A Draw – 11/10

Prediction 3 – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 3/4

First Prediction For Bolton Wanderers v Wigan Athletic – Wigan Athletic To Win – 19/5

Two teams that harbour promotion ambitions have got off to an average start to the season, but are very much on the right half of the table. Bolton Wanderers have had a slow start to their season and show signs of being a real contender, and will rely on their home form for any real push come the end of the season. So why back against them in this game? Wigan Athletic have won four of the last six meetings between the two sides, and although this is a new campaign, history does tend to lend itself a little in close games. Away from home The Latics have yet to win and only picked up two points, but a statement win here will nail down their credentials, and with Bolton stuttering it could well be the right time to play them.

Second Prediction For Bolton Wanderers v Wigan Athletic – Match To End In A Draw – 11/10

Bolton do seem to be the draw specialists in the league so far, with a total of five drawn games so far this season, in the opening eight games. This means they are hard to beat, but also not quite the finished product. Their last home game was a convincing 3-0 win over AFC Wimbledon, who have been notoriously hard to break down, so the signs are good. Wigan though are also a tough team to beat, with three draws also in the books so far, and this stubbornness on both sides could mean this game heads to another stalemate.

Third Prediction For Bolton Wanderers v Wigan Athletic – Both Teams To Score – Yes – 3/4

One thing both teams are not shy from though is scoring goals. Both set up with an attacking intent, and it is paying off. Wanderers so far have netted 10 times, with seven of those at home, and they have only conceded twice on home soil, so that will make it harder for Athletic to improve on their bigger goal tally of 13, of which four have been scored away. Wigan have conceded seven in total, and that would lean towards Bolton getting some joy. With both trying to improve their position in the table and force some pressure on those above this could mean the scoreboard is lit up.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head To Head

Steven Schumacher will be hoping for more of the same his team last played at home, a resounding 3-0 over Wimbledon. Too many draws in the early part of the season will be playing on his mind, but the team is still in touch with the leaders as everyone finds their feet. Amario Cozier-Duberry is looking very lively in attack and his two goals and two assists are proof of that. Mason Burstow leads the way though with four goals, and his bright start really has been the talk of the town. At the back Max Conway has been consistent, and with Chris Forino slotting alongside they do have a strong backbone.

Wigan Athletic have had some great results that have pushed the club up into eighth place. Ryan Lowe will go into this game looking to impose his teams style and pace, as they try and shock a team that has only lost once so far, and should they take this scalp it will serve notice that they are the real deal. Fraser Murray looks to be the main threat with three goals to his name, but the veteran savvy of Paul Mullin is starting to come through, and he could well add to his two goals. 22 year old Ryan Trevitt is a handful in midfield and Dara Costelloe is also one to watch up front. Defensively they have been sound, and will need Welshman Moran Fox to keep up his fine start to the year, alongside Will Aimson and Steven Sessegnon.
