Our Three Predictions for Crawley Town vs Cheltenham Town
- First Prediction: Match to end in a draw – 5/2
- Second Prediction: Over 1.5 goals to be scored – 1/5
- Third Prediction: Harry McKirdy to score at any time – 3/2

First Prediction for Crawley Town vs Cheltenham Town – Match to end in a draw – 5/2
It’s fair to say both sides have had a very mixed start to the 2025/26 campaign, the hosts losing four, drawing two, and winning just one of their opening seven fixtures so far, whilst also suffering defeat to Championship side Swansea City in the cup. However, they are unbeaten in their last two games, drawing 2-2 against Chesterfield before picking up their first three points of the season against Harrogate Town last weekend. The same can be said for their opponents, Cheltenham, who also picked up their first points of the season recently, holding Salford City to a 1-1 draw before winning 1-0 against Accrington Stanley last weekend. Crawley’s home record is the worst in the division, the side picking up one point on home soil, whilst Michael Flynn’s side struggle away, and have the joint-worst away record in the league, also picking up just one point on the road. With all this in mind, it looks like this game may be a close encounter between two sides who are slowly improving.
Second Prediction for Crawley Town vs Cheltenham Town – Over 1.5 goals to be scored – 1/5
Whilst neither side have a good record when it comes to scoring goals, both sides have a poor goalscoring record so far, which may lead to either side increasing the amount of goals they have scored. The visitors have the joint-worst record in terms of goals scored, with three, whilst the hosts have the joint-third worst, with five. In terms of goals conceded, only Shrewsbury Town have conceded more than either side, with Cheltenham level with Newport County as the second-worst, and their opponents the third-worst. In their last five games in all competitions, Scott Lindsay’s side have conceded six goals, whilst only scoring three, whilst Flynn’s side have conceded seven and scored just two. Although both sides kept a clean sheet in their last games, with the awful record both sides possess in terms of defending, it would not be surprising to see over 1.5 goals scored in this clash.
Third Prediction for Crawley Town vs Cheltenham Town – Harry McKirdy to score at any time – 3/2
Striker Harry McKirdy moved to Crawley after a short spell at League Two rivals Bromley in the second half of last season. Most known for his time at Swindon Town, the 28-year-old scored 26 goals in 49 appearances for Swindon before opting for a move to Scottish side Hibernian. Although his time in Scotland didn’t go to plan, McKirdy scored two goals in nine games for the Ravens last season, before joining Crawley. He’s already equalled his record of goals at Bromley this season, after scoring a brace against a side gunning for promotion in Chesterfield. This makes him his side’s top scorer and the joint-fourth top scorer in the league. There’s no doubt he’s looking to further his tally against a Cheltenham side who can be defensively suspect to help his side pick up more points as they look to push on.

Full Preview of the Game – Last Results and Head-To-Head
As mentioned above, both sides come into this game on the back of a win and a draw in the league, Crawley holding Chesterfield to a 2-2 draw before winning 1-0 away at Harrogate, whilst their opponents drew 1-1 against Salford, before winning against Accrington last weekend. These were the first wins of the new season for both sides.
Neither side had a particularly strong campaign last season; Scott Lindsay’s side suffered relegation from League One, while the Robins achieved a stable 15th-placed finish after suffering relegation the previous season. Neither side have had a great start to this campaign either, meaning three points for either side could be crucial.
Since 2011, these sides have met each other 12 times, with all but one of these clashes coming in the fourth tier. The away side have won six of these ties, whilst Crawley have won five. The remaining game ended level after 90 minutes. Last time these sides met, in 2021, the Reds took all three points after beating the Robins 1-0 thanks to a second-half goal from Jordan Maguire-Drew.
